The Sunshine Coast People’s Choice Awards (SCPCA) are proudly presented by The Gibsons, Sechelt & Pender Harbour Chambers of Commerce, The Coast Reporter, and the Sunshine Coast Business Recovery Centre (SCBRC). The voting will be open June 4, 2021 to September 6, 2021 on the Coast Reporter’s website. The goal of the SCPCAs is to showcase local Sunshine Coast businesses, to celebrate and promote positive stories of community and economic brilliance, and to create a fun and inclusive online event aimed at bringing our community together. The SCPCAs have been generously sponsored by SCREDO and the Sunshine Coast Credit Union (SCCU).
How it Works:
Nominees for each category have been selected by the SCPCA steering committee and are aimed to be inclusive of all businesses within our community. In order to ensure inclusion, there is an option when filling in the survey to add-in and vote for any businesses that may have been missed by our committee this year. Please email email@example.com with any corrections if needed.
Voting will be open from June 4, 2021 to September 6, 2021 on the Coast Reporter’s website at www.coastreporter.net/peopleschoice. Voters are able to vote for their favourites by completing the online voting form. If they complete 50% or more of the survey they will be entered to win a $250 Gift certificate from Support Local BC. In order to vote, users are registered on the site with an email address and phone number. Each person is allowed one vote per category.
Winners of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place People’s Choice Awards will be notified between Sept. 13-24. People’s Choice results will be announced in an issue of the Coast Reporter News in October, 2021.
We have created a Coast your Vote page on our website which acts as a companion guide to the Coast Reporter’s survey. It includes a comprehensive directory of all the nominated businesses, which will be updated throughout the summer on a weekly basis to include businesses that are nominated through the add-in option for voters on the Coast Reporter’s website. Voters are encouraged to use this directory throughout the summer as a ‘places-to-try’ and ‘services-to-use’ list as they prepare to cast their vote for their favourite businesses.
If your business has been nominated, or you simply love promoting local events, we have put together everything you need to promote this campaign in the media kits available at www.scbrc.ca/coastyourvote. You will find general as well as category specific graphics that can be used on social media and posters that can be printed off and display in your business or office. The hashtags we encourage you to use if appropriate when sharing content on your social are #CoastyourVote, #SunshineCoastPeoplesChoiceAwards2021and #SCPCA2021.
We are happy to answer any questions you may have about the SCPCAs or to assist you with accessing and utilizing the Media Kit — please reach out to Yarrow Drtina at firstname.lastname@example.org.
